A debate is a sport which trains one’s analytical, critical and quick thinking,
persuasive speaking, note taking, speed reading and in- depth research. In order
to motivate students to overcome stage fear and showcase their talents, Jammu
Sahodaya Inter School Hindi Debate Competition was organized in
Stephens International Public School for 9 to 12 Classes on 15 th October
The Chief Guests of the Occasion were Mr Jagdish Singh Dhami, President
Sahodaya School complex, Jammu and Principal of Heritage Public School and
Mrs Nirmal Mahana, Secretary of Sahodaya School complex.
Mr Manoj Agnihotri, Principal of the school welcomed all the dignitaries and
participants and briefed them that debate not only teaches a person how to win
an argument but also instructs the person for a great amount of life essential
The Judging panel were Dr Alka Sharma, Research officer in State Institute of
Education Muthi Jammu, Dr Sanjeevani, Senior Lecturer in Govt. Hr Sec.
School (Miran Sahib), Dr Parshotam Kumar, Asst. Professor Jammu University.
The topic of the debate was “Kya Sarkar Ko Arakshan Pranali Smapat kar
Deni Chahiye?” and total 25 CBSE schools were engaged in an impressive
exchange of words and reasons where they not only defended but also argued
against the motion.
They wonderfully spoke on the topic and each student presented a different
view. Some spoke for the motion that reservation was started to give the safe
place to women, dalits and backward classes while those who spoke against the
motion highlighted that reservation category is misused by the people.
Harsh Chahal of APS Kaluchak School bagged the first position. The Second
position was shared by Kamakshi Khajuria of MHAC Nagbani & Tavleen Kour
of MV international School. The Third position was grabbed by Nidhi
choudhary, Stephens International Public School. Consolation prize was given
to Diya Sharma of Rich Harvest School.
Mrs Satvinder Saini, Director of the school and Dean Academics Mrs Rama
Jamwal gave away the trophies to the winner. They felicitated the winners and
congratulated all the winners for their performance.
The chief guests speaking on the occasion said that such types of competition
boost the confidence of children to face the audience comfortably and help them
to go a long way in their lives.
