The Jammu Sahodaya Schools Athletics Meet 2018 got off to a colourful start at Maj Somnath Sharma (PVC) Stadium of Sainik School Nagrota on 10 October 2018. Renowned Schools affiliated to CBSE from Jammu region including the host school are participating in this three-day long track and field events. Prof Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs and Dean Faculty of Business Studies, University of Jammu, who is an alumnus of the School, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Following an impressive March Past by the participating schools, the Chief Guest addressed the athletes and declared the Meet open.

The first day’s events included field actions including Triple Jump, Javelin Throw and Discus Throw for both Boys and Girls and also long distance races like 5000 metre run for Boys and 3000 meters run for Girls. Cadet Navneet Singh of Sainik School Nagrota won the first Gold medal for the school in Triple Jump (Boys) while Cadet Sarfaraz lifted Gold in 5000 metres run. Master Bhanu Sharma of Banyan International School bagged double Gold in Javelin and Discus Throw events. In the Girls category, Miss Sakshi Sharma of APS
Damana bagged Gold in Javelin while Miss Khushi Choudhary of Bhargava Public School Samba won Gold in Triple Jump. At the end of the first day’s events, Sainik School Nagrota is at the top of the table with 39 points.
